HMRC Personal Tax – Taxman may be chasing you for payment

31 January 2020 is the deadline to pay any personal tax for individuals for tax year 2018-19 (year ended 5 April 2019).  You may have personal tax for 2018-19, if you had any dividends, or if you had any employment, self-employment, rental or other personal income.  HMRC requires payment for tax year 2018-19, together with a deposit of 50% for the year 2019-20 (called “1st payment on account”).  If you have received a “Self Assessment Statement” from HRMC, you need to pay it.  If you wish to challenge the deposit for 2019-20, you can do so by filling this form: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-assessment-claim-to-reduce-payments-on-account-sa303.  You still need to pay the tax for 2018-19.  For more info please call 0300 200 3310.  If you have not received a demand for payment of personal tax, this most likely means that you do not have any personal tax to pay for year 2018-19.

Digital Bank Statements – Making your life easier

To help our clients, we have created an easy to use and understand guide explaining how to download your bank statements in digital (Excel) format.  In this way, we can process your information easier, which keeps your service less expensive.  Also, you can use the Excel data to manage your company easier. It is important to regularly download your transactions in Excel format, maybe every 6 months or yearly, as some banks (e.g. NatWest) only allow you to download in Excel only 12 months back in time from today’s date. By having a record of your transactions in a digital excel format you will reduce the time needed to process them, if you get an HMRC investigation (enquiry), or if we need to do additional work on a CIS claim, etc.  You may potentially save a lot of time and money. Similarly, we have also made guides on how to set up standing orders which could be useful to you.
